Professional Licensure Disclosures
The University of Jamestown offers courses or programs designed to lead to professional licensure and must satisfy all federal requirements for disclosures regarding such professional licensure programs.
Licensure requirements may vary from state to state, and completing a UJ program does not guarantee that a state licensure or certification entity will approve an individual licensure application. The University of Jamestown recommends discussing licensure requirements with the appropriate UJ program contact, especially if planning to obtain a license in a state other than North Dakota. Students are also encouraged to consult the licensing board(s) in the state(s) where they intend to obtain a license.
Student Location Policy
For the purposes of this policy, a student’s location is defined as follows:
- For a student applying to or enrolled in a primarily face-to-face licensure program in North Dakota, their location is considered the state of North Dakota.
- For a student applying to or enrolled in a primarily distance education licensure program, their location is determined by the legal home permanent address provided to the university by the student.
- If the legal home permanent address is within a U.S. state or territory, the student’s location is considered that state or territory.
- If the legal home permanent address is not within a U.S. state or territory (i.e., students living outside the United States), their location is considered the state of North Dakota.
Individual Direct Disclosures: Prospective Students
The university will issue a direct disclosure at the time of a student’s initial enrollment in the licensure program* if the university has determined that the program does not meet the educational requirements for licensure in the student’s location. A student located in a state in which the program does not meet educational requirements for licensure must attest that they will seek licensure in a U.S. state or territory in which the program does meet educational requirements for licensure.
*Initial enrollment is defined as:
- Undergraduate Programs: Upon assigning a licensure program to a prospective student’s major in the university’s Student Information System.
- Graduate Programs: Upon acceptance to the licensure program.
Individual Direct Disclosures: Enrolled Students
The professional licensure program will issue a new direct disclosure to an enrolled student within 14 calendar days if:
- The university determines that the program no longer meets educational requirements for licensure in the student’s location; or
- The university receives official notification from the student of a change in location to a U.S. state or territory in which the university has determined that the program does not meet the educational requirements for licensure*
