Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program was designed for students who are interested in becoming well-rounded, compassionate Registered Nurses. We focus on patient-centered care with a bio-psycho-social-spiritual emphasis.
In our state-of-the-art simulation lab, you’ll hone in on your nursing skills each semester. Simulations force you to think critically through complex clinical scenarios—like attending to multiple patients with the goal of providing safe, quality care—so you’ll immediately feel confident working in a clinical environment.

We make your journey to your nursing degree personal. Our faculty don’t just push students through the program. Instead, they are known for treating students like family. That means opening their homes for movie nights and a home-cooked meal, where students develop close-knit relationships with peers and faculty!
BSN programs are notorious for being rigorous and all-consuming. Although we expect the best from our students, we also encourage them to stay involved. Here’s how:
Upon completion of our program, you’ll be eligible take the National Council Licensure Examination to gain licensure as a Registered Nurse. 99% of our students who choose to work as bedside nurses and leaders in their field have gained employment at the time of graduation. They go on to work in (among others):
Students who choose to move on to graduate school can become CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist), FNPs (Family Nurse Practitioners), and Nurse Educators.
There are two different routes to apply to the nursing program at UJ:

The University of Jamestown has not determined if the BSN Program meets the educational requirements for licensure at the level of Registered Nurse (RN) in the following U.S. jurisdictions: District of Columbia, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands.

Clinical experience is crucial to your career as a Registered Nurse. While you’re still in school, you can apply the theories you learn in class to real-life settings—expanding your skills, knowledge, and confidence.
Work in Patient Care Unit, Family Birthplace, Emergency Department, Home Health/Hospice, Operating Room, and Same-Day Surgery.
Provide care for individuals with different abilities.
Provide short-term acute inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment and intermediate psycho-social rehabilitation services.
Provide medical services to inmates in a medium custody prison.
Provide nursing services to the community and promote public health.
Provide care to seniors in this assisted living facility.
Students can work in pediatrics, Neonatal ICU, and Pediatric ICU.
Work with life-threatening injuries and illnesses.
Our small class sizes and clinical groups allow for more personalized support and discussion.
UJ nursing students can become certified from the American Heart Association in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
We prioritize your success by providing an academic advisor (who is also nursing faculty) from day one. Our clinical instructors also teach in the classroom for un-matched, hands-on experience.
This capstone consists of working 1:1 with a Registered Nurse for 172 hours (that’s more hours than many other universities offer. More experience = a better career!). You can choose to practice in a variety of locations from several states.
Be immersed in a different culture while gaining hands-on clinical experience. As part of your senior capstone, you’ll travel abroad for 3.5 weeks with nursing faculty to Africa—specifically Kenya and Malawi. Here, you will experience healthcare in the most rural of areas, including:
This life-changing experience ends with a three-day safari. Once you return home, you’ll complete your senior capstone with a 64-hour preceptorship working 1:1 with a Registered Nurse in a local Jamestown facility.
