Morgan Bossman(’12) named Young Professional of the Year
The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce has named Morgan Bossman its 2015 Young Professional of the Year. She was presented with the honor at the Chamber’s annual awards banquet on Thursday.
“I am very honored that they chose me,” Bossman said.
Bossman is the special events coordinator at the University of Jamestown. Prior to that she worked as a program specialist for Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons in Fargo until joining UJ in 2014.
In the two years Bossman has been working with UJ, she has come to exemplify everything you would expect to see in a young professional, said Polly Peterson, UJ executive vice president.
“Morgan is very team-oriented, very supportive, very organized, and she is progressively minded and respectful,” Peterson said. “Morgan is a great person to work with the alumni and staff and a great person to have on your team.”
Bossman is also vice president of the Young Professionals of Jamestown, a subcommittee of the Chamber that includes members from 21 to 40 years old. She was nominated for the award by fellow YPJ members.
“It makes me feel really special that they can see how hard I’ve been working and that I have such a vision with YPJ,” Bossman said. “To be able to share that and inspire other people to work just as hard to make YPJ a success is the biggest part of it, and just to be able to share my enthusiasm for YPJ with other people has definitely made an impact I guess.”
Work is just starting on creating partnerships with the Zonta Club of Jamestown and the Girl Scouts, she said, with the intent of organizing some kind of career planning event.
A Sturgis, S.D. native, Bossman is a 2012 graduate of the University of Jamestown with a degree in business administration. She completed the UJ Character in Leadership program and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in UJ’s new Masters of Leadership program.
