Giving Hearts Day

  • Giving

Why did you choose to come to UJ?
I came to UJ for the opportunity to play hockey and for the small and personal style campus and
classes.

Are you involved in anything on campus?
I play hockey here at UJ and am part of Campus Ministries, Welcome Weekend, Sodexo Marketing
Team and am a Java Hut barista.

Why did you choose those activities?
I like to stay busy. I like having things to do and being able to try and make a difference and make
things better around me.

Is there a particular person or event that stands out as a memory you’ll hold on to?
There are so many memories that I have here, from running 10 miles to flying a Jimmie pride flag on
welcome weekend, making the regional tournament in hockey, to many nights playing Wii with
friends.

What would you say to someone considering coming to UJ?
I’d tell them that we’re a family here. It doesn’t matter what you’re here for, where you’re from, or
what sport you play, you get to know a lot of different people and make friends you’d never expect.
The professors here show that they care about you and actually build a relationship with you. You’re
more than just a number for attendance. Our engagement team does really well at hosting events for
all of us students to go to making sure we have a fun time here. There are so many little things that
makes UJ unique and a special place to be.

Why should someone choose UJ on Giving Hearts Day?
Choosing UJ for Giving Hearts Day opens up so many opportunities for students. It gives them the
ability to come here and try new things, learn things about themselves, and push themselves outside
their comfort zone. Choosing to donate to UJ makes students lives much easier, looking forward into
our futures as well.
