In memoriam: Dr. James Stone
Dr. James Stone, former UJ professor, passed away Wednesday, March 29 after battling cancer. Dr. Stone influenced countless lives in the UJ community upon his arrival in 1990.
In addition to teaching courses as a Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice, he also founded the criminal justice program, served as Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs for five years, shepherded the institution through multiple accreditation cycles, and served as a faculty representative to the Board of Trustees.
Dr. Stone was named Professor of the Year in 2015 and Professor Emeritus in 2017. He retired in May of 2015. He earned his master and doctoral degrees from the University of Washington.
