Annual Trick-Or-Can Event Unites Students and Community for a Cause
Jamestown, ND –The University of Jamestown is excited to announce the success of this year’s Trick-Or-Can event, an annual initiative led by the Student Senate. This community-centered initiative saw students, faculty, and staff unite to collect pantry items for those in need across Jamestown.
With over 250 spirited students participating, the event demonstrated the University’s commitment to nurturing an engaged student body that actively participates in leadership development. Teams of students canvassed local neighborhoods, gathering non-perishable food items, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and more, to support local charity, Community Action.
Lisa Jackson, Vice President of Marketing & External Relations, expressed her gratitude: “The dedication and compassion demonstrated by our students and staff during Trick-Or-Can are truly inspiring. Each year, this event showcases the heart of our community, and this year was no exception.”
This year’s efforts resulted in nearly 6,000 items collected, alongside over $300 in cash donations. The Esports team stood out, achieving the highest number of items collected per member with a little friendly competition for a good cause.
Sara Robinson, Senior Director of Student Engagement, praised the collective effort, “Our success would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of our athletic teams, student organizations, and groups of friends who came together for this event. We are proud to make a tangible impact in our community.”
The Trick-Or-Can event not only provides essential support to those in need but also strengthens the bonds within the University of Jamestown community. As planning begins for next year, the university invites more groups to participate and continue this tradition of service and community engagement.
