The University of Jamestown’s Unruh School of Character in Leadership invites applications for an open-rank faculty position of non-traditional leadership education.

In May 2023, the University of Jamestown received a gift of $15 million from Jim (‘63) and Candy Unruh, the largest in our history, for the creation of the Unruh School of Character in Leadership and the renovation of the University’s chapel, establishing a new Center for Faith and Life. The Unruh School of Character in Leadership will provide diversified programming options, including workshops, certificates, and degree programs at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels, blending theory with practice. The University of Jamestown School of Nursing is seeking to hire an open rank faculty position for the BSN program. Course assignments vary according to program needs and faculty’s area of expertise. The position is on a full-time, 9-month contract and requires a physical presence. This is not a remote position. This position will begin August 2025.

Minimum Requirements:    Faculty must have a minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited institution. If a master’s degree is in a discipline other than nursing, the faculty member must submit evidence of acceptable graduate level coursework in nursing, which includes learning principles for adult education, nursing curriculum development, administration, and evaluation. A minimum of five years’ experience in nursing and a current unencumbered nursing license in the state of North Dakota, or the ability to obtain licensure is required.

Preferred Requirements:

+ Preference given to applicants with current experience in mental health &/or maternal/child health &/or teaching experience at the college/university level.

+ ACLS/PALS certification, or willingness to obtain, is a plus.

The University of Jamestown is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Digital Services Librarian who will develop, coordinate, and deliver information literacy instruction and manage digital resources to support the university community’s academic and research needs, reporting to the Director of Libraries. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and flexible individual with expertise in both the instructional and technical aspects of librarianship. This full-time, 12-month role holds faculty status (Instructor or Assistant Professor) and is located in Jamestown, ND. One evening a week (6pm-10pm) and occasional travel to the University of Jamestown’s Fargo, ND, site will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and provides access to digital resource collections, including database products, licenses, user authentication software, and relevant areas of the library’s integrated library system (ILS).
  • Manages technical data and account integrity for the library’s collection of digital resources, including in collaboration with campus IT, vendor/content providers’ technical staff, and statewide and regional consortia to which the UJ Libraries belong.
  • Participates in the UJ Libraries’ information literacy instruction program including
    • Developing and delivering information literacy instruction sessions and workshops to students and faculty.
    • Collaborating with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
    • Teaching sections of the library’s 1-credit research skills course.
  • Provides research help and reference services to the UJ community, especially students and faculty.
  • Creates and maintains online guides, tutorials, and other instructional materials.

Other Duties:

  • Provides expertise in identifying, evaluating, recommending, and implementing new and emerging technologies that support the library’s mission.
  • Collaborates with faculty and instructional designers to support open educational resources.
  • Participates in university committees and shared governance as well as regional and/or national professional activities.
  • Supports library outreach and engagement efforts.

Education, Experience and Skills:

The appointed individual will have:

  • An MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited program (completed prior to start date).
  • Demonstrated experience with integrated library systems and their applications.

  • Ability to provide one-on-one or group training and instruction on processes to individuals or groups.

Teaching responsibilities will be based on areas of expertise, interest, and program needs. Areas of experience preferred for this position include orthopedics or pediatrics.

Enhancing the profession through participation in research is required. Mentoring in the development of an active scholarly research agenda will be provided.

Service is also required and may include service to the university, the program, the profession and the community. Faculty members are allowed to maintain some clinical hours to maintain clinical expertise.

All meetings, class sessions, and student advising, will take place online. The position includes full-time benefits through the University of Jamestown. Typical job duties will include course development, course management, and primary course instruction, including but not limited to individual student meetings, online office hours, dissertation advisement, and participation in faculty meetings. In addition, candidates will participate in service to the program and university while maintaining a productive research agenda. Initial teaching responsibilities will include areas of expertise. The University of Jamestown seeks a Stewardship Manager to support the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. This is a part-time position, 20-30 hours per week. Successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for fundraisers and development personnel.

Duties include:

  • Assist in organizing and implementing special cultivation events (Dine & Bid, Jimmie Scramble, Friends of the Fine Arts Receptions, Booster Club Tailgates and Luncheons, Alumni Socials, Homecoming) including booking venues, logistics, and catering for events.
  • Assist fundraising staff in timely stewardship of gifts.
  • Prepare updated travel packets for fundraising staff.
  • Work with Research Associate in providing thorough and timely constituent reports to development personnel.
  • In collaboration with Director of Annual Fund, create reminders and schedule for Jimmie Generation Scholarship Program, as well as distribute those reminders and invoices to donors; create and/or update Jimmie Generation Memorandums of Understanding
  • Responsible for creating, updating, and filing of Requests for Support for sponsors.
  • Receive scholarship book from Alumni Office Manager; determine and input scholarship recipients according to donor criteria; coordinate Student Thank You Night, as well as student thank you letters to donors (September/October timeframe)
  • Update and maintain lists of members of the Booster Club and the Friends of the Fine Arts
  • Package and distribute premium items for Booster Club and Friends of the Fine Arts
  • Compile lists of marriages, births, and deaths for Alumni & Friends magazine
  • Active participation in weekly meetings with the Development and Alumni Relations staff.

Requirements/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred, minimum of five years working in a higher education environment preferred.

Graduate Assistant

The University of Jamestown (NAIA), located in Jamestown, ND, is seeking applications for two Sports Information Graduate Assistants.
A graduate assistant position at the University of Jamestown offers the successful applicant a path towards a professional career.

The successful candidate will assist the Sports Information Director in all facets of the sports information office. They will assist with game management, including in-game stat keeping using DakStats software, coordinating webcasts of home events using Production Truck/Wirecast software, and other game day duties as assigned.

They will assist the SID with website management, including game stories and sport program updates.  They will also promote University of Jamestown student-athletes and coaches across traditional and emerging media communication vehicles.  A successful candidate will be able to help with the design and layout of several publications, historical research and accurate archiving of athletic records, and building photographical databases.

The Graduate Assistant will serve as in-house sports information representative when the SID is on the road with UJ teams. The Graduate Assistant may be required to travel with teams on certain occasions.

Requirements include: a familiarity with college sports, strong grasp of English language and ability to write coherent press releases and sports stories, and the willingness to learn on the fly. The successful applicant must be available for the majority of fall, winter, and spring; including evenings and weekends.
