Michael McIntyre is Director of Theatre and the Reiland Fine Arts Center manager. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from Minnesota State University in Mankato in 1995 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northern State University.
While at UJ, Mike has directed or produced over 100 departmental productions and served as technical director for the auditorium’s variety of events. Since 1996, he has directed summer theatre at Jamestown High School with his wife Cheryl and son Tony.
In addition to teaching at UJ, Mike has directed for various community and academic theatres. He has also worked as Technical Director for Highland Summer Theatre in Mankato and as a directing intern for improv comedy legend Dudley Riggs in his Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis. Mike has also written original work for productions in the Dakotas and Minnesota.
Mike has been an active member of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. For KCACTF, he has served as respondent for colleges throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota and has been an Irene Ryan Scholarship Audition judge in many regional festivals. His designs have been recognized with KCACTF awards of merit. At the University of Jamestown, he is a recipient of the Young Alumni mentor medallion.
